The anchor of the barge Ocean 192 after a night on the frozen
Chesapeake Bay.
Another shot of the anchor windlass from the front, completely
covered with ice.

In this shot we are towing a "dead" ship out to sea,
("dead" meaning no crew on board). The tug is to the right of the ship and is
barely visible. The rocks are located at the end of one of the tunnels on the Chesapeake
Bay Bridge-Tunnel. We were bound for Portland, Me. This picture was taken by a friend who
gave it to me after I returned home.
Towing the same ship in the Atlantic a day or two later. There was no one
on the ship and the only connection we had with it was the cable which you can barely see
in the water. The weather was rarely this calm, but when it was, going to sea didn't seem
so bad.
